Link Fighting Championship Puts on Great MMA Event

Saturday night I attended the Link Fighting Championship in Wichita Kansas. Let me say, Link FC knows how to put on a great show that is one of, if not the best, in the midwest. The event was star studded with guest referee David Heath, and the pound for pound top fighter in the world Anderson Silva. Before the fights even started,  and aside from the big name guests in attendance, I noticed  several things that made this show stand out from the others in the midwest. Like the full color program not the standard black and white photo copy, Two huge big screens, a great ring announcer, spacious venue, and a friendly staff.

With that being said. Were the fights any good? Yea, the fights were great. Let me touch on a few highlights. Wichita native Chris Miller put a great arm bar on Shane Sake to win his fight. Tyler Stinson from Winfield, Kansas had a great knockout victory over Bill Albrecht and BJJ Black Belt Roberto Tosi from Sau Paulo, Brazil won his fight by putting a beautiful triangle choke on Rickey Compala. Fight of the night went to the main event of Joe Wilk (Hutchison, Ks.) vs. Damaso Schubert (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). The fact that Schubert had Anderson Silva in his corner, gave the feeling that Wilk was an underdog. When the bell rang Wilk waisted little time taking the fight to the ground. I think most in the crowd felt like this was a big mistake, but Wilk proved that midwest fighters are no joke, and put the ground and pound on the Brazilian, winning the fight by TKO in the first round. The crowd went nuts when the ref stopped the fight topping off a great night.

Mark your calenders, midwest fight fans, Link FC will be having another show on August 16th.
